about

Fairytale is about hope. Hope for a better world. Hope for a better political climate. Hope that miracles can happen. Hope for kindness and love. I believe we need to keep a positive message in our hearts and on our tongues, particularly in times when the climate around can be discouraging, disheartening, and grave. What we believe becomes our reality and it’s when times are darkest that we need to hold on to the light more than ever.

lyrics

I used to read the writing on the wall

I used to find the meaning in it all

I used to dream in stories, I used to dream in song

I’d paint pictures in starlight only erased by the dawn

But little girls’ dreams don’t mean what they seem

When that last spot of sun turns to shade

And Is there any relief for those who still believe

Something good’s gonna come their way?

Let’s not let go of the fairytale

Let’s not believe it’s all gone to hell

Cuz darkness will come and we’ll fall and we’ll fail

But light will prevail,

If we just don’t let go of the Fairytale

We grow older, the light starts to fade

And we stay in the shadows that swallow our faith

The truth slips through our fingers like dust through the sun’s ray

And we can’t help but wonder what happened to yesterday

We can hardly recognize the truth between the lies

So much talkin’ in our ears

But I see through the charade of this empty masquerade

And I don’t believe everything that I hear

Let’s not let go of the fairytale

Let’s not believe it’s all gone to hell

Cuz darkness will come and we’ll fall and we’ll fail

But light will prevail

If we just don’t let go of the Fairytale

BRIDGE

Some say dreamers and sweet storytellers

Are just driftin’ around with their heads in the rafters

But I say a story is like a kiss from a lover

And hope that is lost is our greatest danger

CHORUS

Let’s not let go of the fairytale

Let’s not believe its all gone to hell

Cuz darkness will come and we’ll fall and we’ll fail

But light will prevail

If we just don’t let go of,

if we just don’t let go of the Fairytale

Ciara McAllister San Francisco, California

Ciara McAllister is a San Francisco singer, songwriter and pianist whose songs fuse elements of pop, rock, blues and jazz with the classical music in which she’s formally trained. With a voice that’s as strong as it is vulnerable, a gift for intimate songwriting and an old-soul sensibility, McAllister calls to mind ‘70s greats like Stevie Nicks, yet with a touch of Fiona Apple’s sultry edge. ... more
